The first forward fuselage section and wing for Switzerland's F-35A fleet have entered assembly at Leonardo's Cameri facility in Italy. The aircraft, which will receive military registration J-6004, is scheduled for final assembly in Fort Worth, United States, and is expected to be delivered to Switzerland at the end of 2029.
Under current plans, the initial eight Swiss F-35As will be assembled in the United States and deployed to Ebbing Air Force Base from mid-2027 for pilot training. Switzerland intends to deploy its new F-35A fleet to replace its aging F/A-18 Hornet fighters.
