Starlux Airlines announced on August 21, 2026, that it will expand into Kaohsiung by opening routes to Kobe and Okinawa starting January 1, 2027. This marks the carrier's first establishment of regular scheduled destinations in Kaohsiung.

The airline plans to operate daily flights on both the Kaohsiung-Kobe and Kaohsiung-Okinawa routes using Airbus A321neo aircraft. Kobe City and Starlux held a press conference at Kobe City Hall, hosted by Starlux Chief Strategy Officer Liu Yun-fu, Kobe Mayor Kizo Hisamoto, and Kansai Airports Executive Officer Hiroshi Nishio.

Starlux noted that adding Kaohsiung will complete its network coverage across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, allowing passengers flexibility to enter and depart via Taipei, Taichung, or Kaohsiung.
