Airbus is expanding its wing facility in Belfast to support higher production rates for the A220 aircraft program. The expansion of the Belfast facility is designed to enable the aircraft manufacturer to boost A220 output to 13 jets per month.

The extended wing production site in Belfast will directly support the increased assembly throughput required for the A220 family. Airbus aims to enhance the long-term economics of the entire A220 program through this facility expansion.

According to Simple Flying, the investment in expanding the Belfast wing facility aligns with Airbus's strategy to raise monthly A220 output to 13 aircraft while improving the economic efficiency of the program over the long term.
