The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that Electra, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation have conducted hybrid-electric demonstration flights. The tests evaluated routes connecting small local airports with major airline hubs.

As part of the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), the flights took place between Manassas, Virginia, and Philadelphia. The aircraft made stops at Washington Manassas Airport, Millville Executive Airport, Atlantic City Bader Field, Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE), and Philadelphia International Airport.

According to the FAA, the data gathered will help design a system to connect rural and metropolitan areas. The Department of Transportation selected eight eIPP projects in March 2026, and participants plan further test flights this year.
