AeroTime reported that airBaltic announced on August 17, 2026, that its bondholders have approved amendments to the terms of the airline’s outstanding €380 million 14.5%-interest bonds due in 2029. The resolutions were previously set out in a supplemental meeting notice issued on July 28, 2026. Under the approved terms, interest payments scheduled for August 14 and November 14, 2026, will be added to the bond principal instead of being paid out.
Bondholders also approved a temporary waiver of the minimum liquidity requirement through November 14, 2026, and relaxed several bond conditions. Concurrently, airBaltic is seeking €225 million in interim financing and €100 million in new equity. Following an August 11, 2026 reorganization plan, the carrier intends to retrench at its main Riga (RIX (RIX)) hub while downsizing both its fleet and ACMI wet-leasing operations.
