Taiwan's Executive Yuan appointed National Communications Commission (NCC) Chief Secretary Wen Jun-yu as the agency representative on August 13, 2026. The appointment aims to maintain basic agency operations during a vacancy period following the expiration of commissioners' terms at the end of July.

The NCC announced on August 17 that it will prioritize processing matters concerning public interest and daily life. Key authorized tasks include import approvals for controlled telecommunications radio frequency equipment, as well as the issuance and renewal of station licenses for vessels and aircraft.

Prior to the appointment of the official representative, document processing and official issuance had stalled. Accumulated backlogs included 280 official administrative documents and 269 cases involving radio frequency equipment approvals and station licenses.
