Aircraft leasing company Avolon announced on August 14, 2026, that it has agreed to a sale and leaseback transaction with Indian carrier Akasa Air for up to seven Boeing 737-8200 aircraft.
Selling aircraft from its order book to Avolon and leasing them back enables Akasa Air to free up financial resources for other uses while continuing normal aircraft operations.
Akasa Air currently operates a fleet of 17 Boeing 737-8200 aircraft, all configured with 197 seats in a single-class cabin. Previously, leasing firm Avolon delivered five standard Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to the airline between December 2022 and January 2023.
