An elevator malfunction occurred at Taoyuan International Airport on the morning of August 16, trapping 23 people. The N7 elevator located in the North Expansion Area of Terminal 2 triggered an emergency alarm at 9:40 AM. The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation dispatched maintenance personnel and elevator technicians immediately after confirming the situation.
As some trapped passengers reported feeling unwell, medical personnel and the Taoyuan City Fire Department were also dispatched to stand by. Maintenance workers successfully opened the elevator doors at 10:34 AM, freeing all 23 individuals, who were found to be in stable condition after medical checkups.
The incident occurred as aviation enthusiasts gathered to watch Starlux Airlines' 'Kong Shan Jin' livery aircraft land. Some trapped individuals posted online that they missed the aircraft due to the incident. The airport company apologized and promised to investigate the cause.
