Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense announced on August 15 that starting from 8:28 AM, 10 sorties of Chinese military aircraft were detected operating off the island. The aircraft types included J-11, JH-7, and Su-30 fighters. Among them, 6 sorties crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering airspace over northern and central Taiwan in coordination with Chinese naval vessels during a joint combat readiness patrol.
The defense ministry stated that Taiwan's military closely monitored the situation using joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets, dispatching mission aircraft, naval vessels, and shore-based missile systems to respond appropriately. The activity occurred immediately after Taiwan concluded its 10-day Han Kuang 42 live-fire military exercise on August 14.
