FedEx has unveiled a Boeing 777 Freighter featuring a retro livery inspired by the aircraft that launched its operations over 50 years ago. The unveiling coincides with the renaming of Memphis airport to Frederick W. Smith International Airport in honor of the company's founder.
The 777F, registered N884FD and named Rosie, sports a paint scheme based on the Dassault Falcon 20 aircraft used when Federal Express began flights from Memphis on April 17, 1973, with an initial fleet of 14 aircraft. Founder Frederick W. Smith passed away on June 21, 2025, at age 80.
