On August 12, 2026, Air China completed the first scheduled international commercial flight of the COMAC C919 passenger aircraft. Flight CA723, operated by a C919-100(ER) registered B-919Y, departed Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and arrived at Ulaanbaatar (UBN) around 17:00 local time.

Air China plans to operate the C919 aircraft on the Beijing-Ulaanbaatar route seven days a week as flights CA723 and CA724. The airline currently has 12 C919 aircraft in its active fleet, alongside existing operations by China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines.

Separately, COMAC's C919 high-altitude prototype completed its maiden test flight on July 29, 2026, in Shanghai. The high-altitude variant is being jointly developed with Tibet Airlines, featuring a seating capacity between 140 and 160 passengers.
