Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) convened the first local government drone management working meeting of 2026 on August 11, presenting plans for drone testing sites while discussing enforcement practices and flying restrictions around critical infrastructure.

According to the CAA, Taiwan had 42,016 registered drones as of late June 2026. Professional operator certificates reached 23,518 across 17,343 holders, with Kaohsiung City, Taichung City, and New Taipei City accounting for the highest number of certificate holders.

The agency also noted 895 qualified legal entities and 31,613 approved activity applications, led by aerial photography at 84.75 percent. In drone logistics, the CAA has approved 10 pilot projects, with three remaining in active trial operation for remote delivery of daily necessities and medical supplies.
