Airlines are operating special observation flights for the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. Spanish carrier Iberia will operate flight IB1473 from Madrid over Palencia province using an Airbus A321XLR. The flight will carry researchers from the Shelios Project and livestream the astronomical event using Starlink satellite connectivity.
Brussels Airlines is also operating an Airbus A320 flight from Brussels carrying 100 passengers towards western France for partial eclipse viewing in coordination with local observatories. Additionally, ACE, part of Belgian aviation charter company ASL Group, will operate an Embraer ERJ135 regional jet flight departing from Liège Airport (LGG).
