David Cummins has been sworn in as the eighth Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) following his confirmation by the US Senate. Nominated by US President Donald Trump in May 2026, Cummins will lead a workforce of approximately 60,000 employees and oversee security operations across more than 430 airports in the nation.

In addition to aviation security, Cummins will be responsible for surface transportation security, including rail, mass transit systems, highways, pipelines, and maritime infrastructure. Cummins stated that he will focus on supporting the TSA workforce, improving employee morale, and rolling out new technology at security checkpoints. Prior to his appointment, he served as Director of Operations Management for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and worked in the private transportation sector.
