According to a news report from Simple Flying, American Airlines is offering voluntary unpaid leaves of absence to its cabin crew members. The carrier is implementing this initiative because it currently has too many flight attendants.
The union-backed program offers eligible staff a full month of unpaid leave. Crucially, employees who participate in the program will continue to preserve their standard company benefits during their time away.
In addition to preserving benefits, the temporary leave program is designed to open up more flight opportunities for junior flight attendants across the carrier's flight network.
