Sun Country Airlines’ CEO admitted in a recent interview that a notable number of pilots have resigned to join Delta Air Lines since August.
The loss of flight crew prompted the airline to pre‑emptively trim its flight schedule to avoid operational disruptions.
Internal data shows that the airline’s September seat capacity out of Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport is nearly 40 percent lower than originally planned.
The carrier states that the schedule adjustments are necessary to cope with the pilot shortage while preserving essential route coverage.
Although the cuts will affect some travelers, Sun Country says it will work to re‑book or refund affected passengers where possible.
