Air India has named Tewolde Gebremariam, the former head of Ethiopian Airlines Group, as its new Chief Executive Officer following a comprehensive search for its next leader.
Gebremariam served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines from January 2011 to March 2022. Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran stated that Air India is now entering a critical execution and expansion era following its initial stabilization and integration phase.
The executive appointment follows the resignation of Campbell Wilson, who announced on April 7, 2026, that he would step down after a nearly four-year tenure leading the Tata Group-owned airline.
