Speaking at the Legislative Yuan on August 5, Major General Huang Wen-chi, Director of the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of National Defense, stated that Taiwan started late in developing drones and counter-drone systems. He noted that if progress proceeds smoothly, several counter-drone systems will be completed next year.
Huang added that the ministry's Communications, Electronics and Information Bureau and the Information and Electronic Warfare Command have established detailed planning for spectrum allocation during counter-drone operations. Meanwhile, Major General Hou Jia-lun, Director of Operations and Planning, stated that current military equipment is being used to handle potential drone swarms.
The Han Kuang 42 live-troop exercise officially began on August 5 for a ten-day and nine-night schedule, with drone offense and defense featured as key elements of the drills.
