Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss Air announced on July 31, 2026, that Edi Wolfensberger will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer on October 1, 2026. Wolfensberger, who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Eurowings, will succeed Bernd Bauer following Bauer's 12-year tenure leading the carrier.

The 45-year-old Swiss national previously served as Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland. Under Bauer's leadership since 2014, Edelweiss expanded its route network from around 40 to over 100 destinations, while its workforce grew from approximately 500 to nearly 1,700 employees. Bauer also served as CEO of Discover Airlines from 2022 to 2025.
