Simple Flying reports that United Airlines has stated it has "no interest" in purchasing pre-built 777X aircraft originally destined for Emirates.

The report indicates that up to 20 such aircraft are involved, and United has ruled out taking possession of them while leaving room for other airlines to step in.

In background, the 777X programme continues its testing progress. According to AVWIRE archive records, the Boeing 777-9 test fleet has reached 4,800 test hours, and the FAA has approved the 777X programme to begin certification flight testing under Type Inspection Authorization 4B, with first delivery anticipated in 2027.
