The high-altitude variant of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) C919, known as the C919-600, has completed its maiden flight. The compact aircraft variant is engineered specifically to operate on routes serving high-plateau airports.

Historical records show that the C919-600 prototype, registered B-002U, conducted its test flight on July 29, 2026. After taking off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the aircraft remained airborne for one hour and 59 minutes.

The high-altitude C919 variant is being jointly developed by manufacturer COMAC in partnership with Tibet Airlines, featuring a passenger seating capacity designed for between 140 and 160 passengers.
