The Israeli Air Force reactivated Squadron 193 during a ceremony held at Palmachim Airbase on July 28, 2026. The squadron will operate the new Sikorsky SH-60F Seahawk maritime helicopters, designated "Shalach" in Hebrew, to support the Israeli Navy and expand maritime operational capabilities.
Squadron 193 had been closed in August 2025 following the retirement of its AS565 Panther ("Atalef") helicopters. Three Seahawk helicopters have arrived in Israel so far, with two more expected by the end of the year. Two of the current aircraft are undergoing operational integration at local defense companies before flight testing and entry into service.
