According to a report from Simple Flying, Australian carrier Qantas is scheduled to operate its final Airbus A380 service on the route between Melbourne and Los Angeles on October 24.

Following the conclusion of Airbus A380 flights on the Melbourne-Los Angeles sector, the airline is opting to replace the superjumbo with the Boeing 787-9 aircraft type instead.

Verified historical records indicate that the Boeing 787-9 is leading widebody aircraft deliveries in 2026. The steady arrival of the twinjet is accelerating the retirement of three older aircraft types across four different airlines.
