According to reporting published by Simple Flying, the YFQ-44A Fury combat drone developed by defense technology company Anduril recently destroyed a target during field tests. The trial successfully demonstrated the uncrewed aircraft's technical capability to engage and destroy targets.
Despite the successful demonstration proving what the aircraft can achieve, operational requirements for the US Air Force mandate that a human operator must remain in the decision loop during future deployments. Under these rules, the new combat drone cannot fire any weapons without receiving explicit prior approval from human personnel. The control protocol ensures human oversight remains central to all weapon firing decisions.
